What is the scariest book you've ever read, and why?

Well, I remember reading a book a long time ago that really scared me! It was called "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" by Alvin Schwartz.

This book is full of scary stories and creepy illustrations. I remember one story about a bride who died on her wedding day and comes back to haunt her groom. Another story was about a girl who found a toe in the ground and ended up being haunted by the creature it belonged to.

What made this book really scary was the illustrations. They were so detailed and gruesome that it made the stories even scarier! I couldn't sleep after reading it and had nightmares for days.

But as I got older, I learned to appreciate the book for what it was - a great collection of scary stories that were perfect for Halloween or any time you want to get scared!
