For instance, electric cars are becoming more popular, but the infrastructure required to charge them and the batteries themselves still rely on fossil fuels for production and transportation. Moreover, aviation currently relies almost entirely on fossil fuels, making it one of the hardest sectors to decarbonize.

Political support is also crucial in transitioning to an energy system based on clean energy. Many governments are currently implementing policies and incentives to encourage the use of renewable energy. For instance, countries such as Denmark, Germany, and Costa Rica are already generating more than 75% of their electricity from renewable energy sources. However, other countries with large fossil fuel reserves, such as the United States, may be less keen on phasing out fossil fuels.

In addition, economics and market forces will play a significant role in the long-term success of clean energy. While renewable energy is becoming more cost-competitive, traditional fossil fuels are still cheaper in some regions. The challenge for clean energy is to reduce its costs further to compete with fossil fuels and incentivize companies and individuals to switch to renewable energy.
