Well, from my point of view, the current state of E-voting technology is something that still needs a lot of improvement. Although the use of technology to facilitate the voting process may seem like a step forward, the reliability of e-voting raises concerns among the general public and experts in cybersecurity.

E-voting technology refers to the use of electronic systems to manage and conduct the voting process in elections. These systems vary from online voting platforms to electronic voting machines.

One of the main issues with e-voting technology is that it can be vulnerable to cybersecurity threats. The use of software and electronic devices creates opportunities for hackers to interfere with voting results, create system failures or monitor voters’ information. This issue has been a significant concern for the electoral authorities worldwide, and few countries have implemented e-voting technology on a large scale.

Another challenge of e-voting is ensuring that the technology used is accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or abilities. The digital divide is a reality that affects the adoption of technology in different regions of the world. Elderly people or those living in remote areas may not have access to the internet or electronic devices needed to cast their vote online. Furthermore, E-voting may pose challenges for voters with disabilities, such as making the ballots accessible to visually impaired people who may not be able to use electronic machines.

In terms of reliability, e-voting can also present issues related to transparency, accountability, and accuracy. Traditional voting systems, where paper ballots are cast and counted by hand, allow for more transparency in the vote-counting process. With an electronic voting system, it may be more difficult to verify the accuracy of the results, and it can be challenging to do recounts when needed.

Nonetheless, the current state of E-voting technology is continuously evolving, and voting laboratories, universities, and experts are continuously researching and testing new systems aiming to improve the security and reliability of the process. Additionally, Blockchain technology has emerged as a possible solution to some of the main challenges we are facing with E-voting, such as ensuring transparency and tamper-proof votes.

To summarize, the current state of E-voting technology and its reliability is still a matter of debate and experimentation. Although the technology offers potential benefits, such as convenience and accessibility for voters, the cybersecurity concerns and risks involved must be thoroughly evaluated and addressed. Therefore, electoral authorities must carefully implement e-voting technology and ensure that it is reliable, secure, and accessible for all voters.
