The country's renewable energy industry employs over 300,000 people and has attracted foreign investment. Germany's leadership in renewables has also inspired other countries to take action on climate change.

However, Germany's transition to renewable energy has not been without challenges. One major issue is the intermittent nature of wind and solar power, which can lead to fluctuations in electricity supply. This has led to debates over the use of coal and natural gas as a backup source of energy, with some arguing that these sources are necessary to ensure stable energy production.
