Well, as far as I know, the purpose of medieval art was mainly to glorify the Christian faith and to educate the illiterate population about the stories and teachings of the Bible. Back in the middle ages, not everyone knew how to read or write, so the church used art as a way to convey religious messages and moral lessons.

Medieval artists were highly skilled in different techniques such as painting, sculpture, illuminating manuscripts, and stained glass windows. They created intricate and detailed pieces that were meant to inspire awe and reverence in the viewers. The art was also used to decorate churches, cathedrals, and other religious buildings, making them more beautiful and impressive.
