Prosecutors and defense attorneys are very important people in a criminal trial. They both have different jobs to do that can impact the outcome of the trial.

The prosecutor is like a lawyer who works for the government. They are also sometimes called state attorneys or district attorneys. Their job is to prove that someone committed a crime and should be punished. They do this by presenting evidence, calling witnesses to testify, and making arguments to the judge or jury.

The defense attorney is like a lawyer who works for the person who is accused of the crime. Their job is to try to get their client off the hook and prove that they didn't do the crime or that they shouldn't be punished. They also present evidence, call witnesses, and make arguments to the judge or jury.

The prosecutor and defense attorney both have important roles to play in a criminal trial. They each try to convince the judge or jury that their side is right. The prosecutor wants to get a conviction and punish the person who committed the crime. The defense attorney wants to get an acquittal and prove that their client is innocent.

The outcome of a criminal trial can depend on how well the prosecutor and defense attorney do their jobs. If the prosecutor presents really good evidence and the defense attorney can't refute it, then the person being accused might be convicted.
