It can also mean that they miss out on opportunities for promotion or career development.

The lack of affordable childcare is also a big factor contributing to the feminization of poverty. Women who cannot afford childcare often have to stay at home to look after their children, which can limit their opportunities for paid work and make it harder for them to earn a good income. This can then lead to a cycle of poverty and social exclusion.
