As a hiking enthusiast and avid traveler, I can confidently say that there are countless awe-inspiring hiking trails all around the world. However, in my opinion, the following five hikes stand out above the rest due to their breathtaking scenery, exceptional accessibility, and undeniable awe factor.

1. Inca Trail, Peru
The Inca Trail is a backpacker’s dream come true. One of the most the popular hikes in South America, it leads hikers through the majestic Andes Mountains, through pre-Hispanic ruins, and ultimately culminates in the famous Machu Picchu. The Inca Trail is not just a visually stunning hike, it’s also steeped in history and culture, providing hikers with opportunities to learn about Incan civilization and the surrounding wildlife.

2. Zion Narrows, USA
Hiking through the narrow canyons of Zion National Park’s Narrows is a unique and unforgettable experience. This hike involves wading through the Virgin River for hours, with beautiful towering sandstone walls on either side of you. With different route options to choose from depending on your fitness level and experience, you’ll be able to customize your adventure to match your needs.

3. Torres Del Paine, Chile
Located in Chile's Patagonia region, Torres del Paine is a stunning National Park that boasts some of the world’s most impressive natural scenery. You can hike this park’s varied trails through forests, over glaciers, and around mountains with stunning lakes. On top of its aesthetics, it is also impressively accessible with comfortable park lodges and campsites situated throughout of the area.

4. Everest Base Camp, Nepal
For those looking for an ultimate challenge, trekking to Mount Everest Base Camp is the perfect venture. The journey will push the boundaries of your physical endurance as you navigate through ancient Sherpa villages, glaciers, and snow-covered peaks. You’ll be rewarded at the base camp with the stunning view of towering, majestic mountaintops and unforgettable vistas.

5. Overland Track, Australia
Located on the island of Tasmania, the Overland Track is around 40 miles long and takes hikers through the beautiful Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Along the way, you’ll pass through forests, alpine heathland, and past alpine lakes whilst enjoying stunning views that stretch for miles in every direction.

These five hikes offer a combination of natural beauty, historical significance, and the chance to push yourself to embrace adventure. Each beautiful trail offers something unique to the hiking experience and you are sure to discover a newfound appreciation for nature, history, and outdoor adventure on any of these iconic trails.
