Who are the most influential rugby players in the world right now?
Well, I'm not a huge rugby fan, but I've seen enough games to know that there are some players out there who are absolute powerhouses. In terms of who I consider to be the most influential rugby players in the world right now, there are a few names that come to mind.
First off, I have to mention Richie McCaw. He's a retired New Zealand rugby player, but he's still making an impact in the game. Most people consider him to be one of, if not the, greatest rugby players of all time. He captained the New Zealand national team, the All Blacks, for over a decade, and led them to two consecutive Rugby World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015. Even though he's not playing anymore, his legacy and influence are still felt throughout the sport.
Another player who I think deserves a mention is Dan Carter. He's also a retired New Zealand player, and like McCaw, many people consider him to be one of the best rugby players of all time. He won numerous awards throughout his career, including three World Rugby Player of the Year awards. He was instrumental in the All Blacks' Rugby World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015. He's now retired from international rugby, but he's still playing professionally in Japan.
Moving on to current players, one name that immediately comes to mind is Maro Itoje. He's an English player who has quickly risen to the top of the sport. He's only 26 years old, but he's already won numerous awards and accolades, including being named the European Player of the Year in 2016. He's known for his powerful, dominant style of play and his leadership on the field.
Another current player who I think is worth mentioning is Beauden Barrett. He's a New Zealand player who plays primarily as a fly-half. He's won numerous awards, including the World Rugby Player of the Year award in 2016 and 2017. He's also been a key player in the All Blacks' recent Rugby World Cup victories. He's known for his speed and agility on the field, as well as his impressive kicking ability.
Finally, I have to mention Siya Kolisi. He's a South African player who made history in 2018 when he became the first black captain of the South African national rugby team, the Springboks. He was instrumental in leading the team to victory in the 2019 Rugby World Cup, which was a huge moment for South Africain rugby and for the country as a whole. He's known for his powerful, physical style of play and his leadership both on and off the field.
Overall, these are just a few of the players who I consider to be the most influential rugby players in the world right now. Each of them has had a significant impact on the sport, whether through their skill on the field, their leadership, or their impact on the game's culture and history. There are certainly other players who could be included on this list, but for me, these are the ones who stand out the most.
