Is it fair for certain national football teams to be excluded from major tournaments based on their world ranking?

Well, I'm not really sure about this one. On the one hand, I can understand why some people might think it's fair to exclude teams based on their world ranking. I mean, if a team isn't performing well, then maybe they don't deserve to compete at the highest level. It's kind of like in school – if you're not doing well in a particular subject, you might have to drop down to a lower level.

That being said, though, I'm not sure if world ranking should be the only criteria for exclusion. There are a lot of factors that can affect a team's performance – injuries, coaching changes, even politics – and it's not always fair to judge them solely based on their ranking. Plus, if we only let the "best" teams compete, then it takes away some of the excitement and unpredictability of the tournament. After all, who doesn't love rooting for the underdog?

I also wonder if there might be some bias in the way world rankings are determined. Are certain countries given an unfair advantage? Are smaller countries being overlooked? It's hard to say for sure, but it's definitely something to consider.

So, all in all, I'm kind of torn on this issue. I can see both sides of the argument, and I'm not sure if there's a clear-cut answer. I guess it really depends on what we value more – fairness and merit, or inclusivity and diversity. Maybe there's a way to strike a balance between the two, but I'm not exactly sure what that would look like. What do you guys think?
