Are there any football teams that train specifically with skiing activities?
Hey!
Interesting question! I did some research and it turns out that there are a few football teams that have implemented skiing activities into their training regimen. The idea being that skiing engages many of the same muscle groups as football, making it a valuable cross-training activity.
One such team is Manchester United. They have been known to incorporate skiing trips into their winter training sessions. In 2012, the team traveled to a ski resort in Switzerland for some on-snow training. The experience was seen as a fun and bonding activity for the team, but also helped to improve their strength and endurance.
Another team that has used skiing as part of their training is the German national team. In preparation for the 2018 World Cup, the team spent time skiing in Italy. They reportedly used the activity to work on explosiveness, balance, and coordination.
Finally, in the US, the New England Patriots have also incorporated some skiing into their training. In 2017, members of the team visited Utah for a ski trip. While the activity was seen as a team-building exercise, it also allowed the players to work on their balance and agility.
Of course, these teams are the exception rather than the rule when it comes to football training. Most teams focus on more traditional activities like weight training, running, and drills specific to their positions. However, it is interesting to see how some teams are exploring innovative ways to improve their players’ performance.
