Which professional athletes have successfully transitioned from football to triathlon?
Hey there!
I did some research on professional athletes who have successfully made the transition from football to triathlon, and here are some names I found.
One of the most well-known football players turned triathlete is Hines Ward. He is a former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and after retiring from football, he decided to take on triathlon. He has completed several Ironman races, and has even competed in the world championships. In 2018, he became the first ever celebrity finisher of the gruelling Kona Ironman World Championship.
Another football player turned triathlete is Anthony "Spice" Adams. He played as a defensive tackle for the San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bears. After retiring from football, he began to take triathlon seriously. He has competed in several Ironman triathlons, and has even completed the 140.6-mile race in Kona.
Matt Chrabot is another former football player turned triathlete. He played for the University of Colorado before pursuing professional football. Chrabot played in the NFL for the New York Giants, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Denver Broncos. After his football career ended, he transitioned to triathlon. He has competed in several Ironman and ITU World Championship events, and has even represented the United States on the Olympic triathlon team.
There are also several collegiate football players who have transitioned to triathlon. Ben Kanute played football at University of Arizona before becoming a triathlete. He has won several international triathlons, and has competed in the Rio Olympics. Andy Potts played football and swam for the University of Michigan before pursuing a career in triathlon. He has won several Ironman events and has also competed in the Olympics.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
