What led to the decline and eventual collapse of the Manor System in the late Middle Ages?

Hey! So, after doing some research, I found out that the decline and eventual collapse of the Manor System in the late Middle Ages was caused by several factors.

One of the main factors was the Black Death that struck Europe in the mid-14th century. This pandemic killed off a significant portion of the population, including many laborers who worked on the manors. As a result, there was a shortage of labor, which meant that lords had to pay higher wages to attract workers or let land out to tenants instead of labor-intensive agriculture.

Another factor was the increased trade and commercialization during the late Middle Ages, which created a growing demand for cash crops such as wool which could be bartered or sold in urban markets. Due to this, many lords converted arable land into pastureland, which required fewer laborers to manage.

Furthermore, the emergence of towns and cities also contributed to the decline of the Manor System. With the growth of towns and cities, more people were attracted to living in urban areas, which provided them with new economic opportunities. This led to a decline in the importance of agriculture, diminishing the wealth and power of the lord.

Additionally, the introduction of new inventions and technologies, such as the water mill and the horse-drawn plow, changed the way people farmed and made it easier for them to manage larger areas of land. This led to the emergence of more wealthy and independent farmers, who were less dependent on the lord.
