What was the greatest achievement of the Crusaders during the Middle Ages?

Well, dude, that's a pretty tricky question. I mean, it's not like the Crusaders had a scoreboard or anything, you know what I mean? But if I have to say something, I guess you could say that their greatest achievement was the capture of Jerusalem in 1099. That was like the holy grail (no pun intended) of their whole campaign, you know? And they managed to hold onto it for almost a century.

But here's the thing: the Crusaders weren't exactly a model of unity and organization. They were a patchwork of different armies, each with their own agendas and leaders. Sometimes they even fought each other! So it's hard to talk about a single accomplishment that they all shared.

And let's not forget that the Crusades were pretty messed up in a lot of ways. They were violent, bloody, and often resulted in the deaths of innocent people. Plus, they were based on a pretty problematic idea: that it was okay to use violence to force other people to adopt your religion.

So yeah, I guess the capture of Jerusalem could be considered the Crusaders' greatest achievement. But let's not forget the messy, complicated, and often tragic reality of the Crusades as a whole.
